Understanding Air Flow Direction

Airflow direction refers to the path air takes as it moves from the outside, through the HVAC system, and into the passenger compartment. The arrows on the cabin air filter indicate this path and help ensure the filter is installed correctly. When installing a cabin air filter, look for arrows on the filter’s frame. If the arrows indicate airflow direction, align them with the airflow entering the HVAC system, typically toward the interior of the cabin. If the filter is marked with "UP" and "DOWN" arrows, the UP arrow should point upward in the housing.
