It′s a feeling you can only experience in motorsports: deafening horsepower breaking the threshold of 300 mph in less time than it takes you to crack a smile; tackling the natural terrain and launching over 150 feet in the air before you can blink.
Since 1967, Consumer Products Group (CPG) brands–Prestone®, FRAM®, Autolite® – have actively participated in the world of racing. As avid sponsors in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and the World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR), CPG has relationships with a number of drivers who constantly push the brands' products to the most extreme conditions.
2009 NHRA Rookie of the Year, Spencer Massey, joins the FRAM/Prestone Top Fuel Dragster team this year! As one of the rising stars in NHRA, Spencer couldn’t have asked for a better dragster and crew. The FRAM/Prestone team ended the 2010 season in third place having won three races and went to eight final rounds. This year the FRAM/Prestone team is looking to grab the Championship with Spencer!
CPG represents about 90% of the Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro-Stock fields. To name a few in top fuel that use FRAM, Prestone, and Autolite products are seven time world Champion, Tony Schumacher, Antron Brown and Brandon Bernstein. In Funny Car legendary driver John Force, Ron Capps and Matt Hagan. And in Pro Stock Greg Anderson, Jason Line and V. Gaines.
The CPG racing experts are constantly trackside, helping crews fine-tune their race cars and providing them with various high performance products that meet today’s strict racing standards.
From hardcore enthusiasts to backyard mechanics, from the guys at the counter to the guys at the garage, car guys in the know trust the brands that not only bring excitement to the track, but use that passion and know-how to produce high-quality, long-lasting replacement and performance parts to the real world of everyday driving.
Consumer Products Group proves that great products can result from the real-world test lab of racing. From drag strips and dirt to driveways and highways, CPG is dedicated to providing technology that helps vehicles both on and off the field of racing.

Spencer Massey, winner of the 2009 Southern California Auto Club’s Road to the Future award as the top NHRA professional rookie, enters his second full season of Top Fuel competition in the hunt for a championship. Spencer finished sixth in the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel standings on the strength of two national event wins – Joliet and the second Las Vegas race – and an Atlanta race he contested from the pole and lost a close final round in a pedal fest. He made it into two other final rounds – Reading and the fall Pomona race - on his way to a 32-20 round record for the season. One of the driving skills Spencer brings to the FRAM/Prestone Top Fuel team is superb reaction times. During his exemplary rookie campaign, the Texan was first off the line some 89 percent of the time and posted an average 0.56-second R/T, quickest in the class!
When Spencer is not blasting down the 1,000-foot NHRA strip he can be found either working on cars or fishing. Hooked on drag racing since he was four years old, he has crewed on alcohol dragsters competing in both NHRA and IHRA events (and driven in these, as well), and worked on other racecars since his teens. For years he has also applied his automotive technical skills to buying used trucks, repairing them and selling them at a profit, going as far as a partnership in a used-truck operation. The other way he unwinds between races is bass or catfish fishing with his buddies.
Fans wanting to catch a glimpse of Spencer off the track this season should be alert when traveling the nation’s highways. He will be commuting to most of the races in a 2003 Dodge Ram pulling the 33-foot travel trailer which is home away from home during the season.
