HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT FRAM CABIN AIR FILTER FOR YOUR VEHICLE

Cabin air filters protect passengers from harmful dust, dirt and allergens and keep the air inside your vehicle clean. It’s recommended to change your cabin air filter every 12 months and there are some things to remember before you replace it.

Your vehicle’s owner manual will tell you the location and type of cabin air filter you need. You can also input your vehicle information in a manufacturer’s parts lookup to get the filter you need. Just like the engine air filter, there are standard and premium cabin air filters to pick from, depending on your needs and driving habits. Both types are designed to do the same thing, but some premium cabin air filters like FRAM Fresh Breeze® feature additional deodorizing properties, making your vehicle smell clean and fresh throughout the filter’s life.

THREE SIGNS YOUR CABIN AIR FILTER IS CLOGGED

Just like any filtration product, the cabin air filter will become clogged over time. As this happens, you’ll notice some telltale signs the filter needs to be replaced. Here are three of the more common signs your cabin air filter is clogged:

Reduced Airflow from the Vents
A clogged cabin air filter restricts the output from your HVAC system. This makes the heater and air conditioner work harder to provide the comfort you need in the cabin. If you’re having to turn the fan speed up to full to get decent air flow, it’s a sign the cabin filter needs replacing.

Dust In the Cabin
Once the filter is clogged, it restricts airflow and can no longer trap contaminants like dirt, dust, road salt and allergens from entering the cabin. As the air tries to push through the dirty filter, you might notice dust blowing out of your vents or that your windshield is constantly fogged up. This indicates the cabin air filter is clogged.

Loud Fan Noises
Dust and debris from a clogged filter can become loose in the filter compartment and work its way down into the ventilation fans. This can create rattling, buzzing or other troublesome noises. Combined with the extra strain on the fans from the clogged filter, running a noisy fan at high speed is a clear indication of a filtration issue.
